FLAGGER TRAINING |

The main objective, of this course is to learn how to be safe and
effective flagger. To measure the success of this program, there are
several things you should understand and be able to do when you are
finished. Attendees will take a written examination at the
completion of the course and upon passing will be issued a course
completion card.

At the end of this course, the flagger will be able to: |
Describe why proper flagging is import
List qualifications of a good flagger
Use the UMTCD (MDOT) and other standards references as they
pertain to flagging
Ensure temporary traffic control zones follow basic principles
as outlined in the MUTCD and MIDOT
Divide the temporary traffic control zone into areas
Determine if signs and devices on a project meet standards
Gather all necessary and proper flagging equipment and gear
Select the proper flagging station, location, position
Handle (Stop, Slow, Release, Direct) Traffic using a paddle
Handle traffic using a flag
Recognize different types of drivers and hoe to deal with them
Setup and handle one-lane traffic on a two-way road
Use alternative methods to communicate with other flaggers
Setup and handle traffic on haul road operations
Recognize unique or special flagging situations and what
considerations are necessary
Setup and handle nighttime flagging operations
Communicate effectively with public, supervisor and co-workers
