Mr. Dimos has an extensive background in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and is board certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. His experience includes research, providing consultation services, assisting in occupational medicine clinics, and coordinating and auditing industrial hygiene programs for an industry wide study. He has participated in indoor air quality investigations and has several years of asbestos abatement consultation experience. In addition, Mr. Dimos has several years of experience as a trainer in Continuing Education courses for lead, asbestos, and industrial hygiene at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Illinois at Chicago and in silica, lead, asbestos, confined space and industrial hygiene for the Chicagoland Construction Safety Council. Services Provided by Mr. Dimos: Exposure Assessment to Air Contaminants Full-shift sampling representing workplace exposures for airborne contaminants such as gases, vapors, fumes, mists and particulate matter to allow determination of OSHA compliance, respiratory hazard and health risk. Risk determination is referenced to existing OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH and any existing company Occupational Exposure Limits. Asbestos For removal or repair projects, air sampling, exposure assessment and project management services are available to comply with OSHA requirements for asbestos exposure. Operations and Maintenance, Occupant and general awareness training programs can also be tailored and provided for client facilities. Lead Full lead services including exposure assessment, engineering control evaluations, personal protective equipment determination, work practices/administrative control review and writing or review of compliance programs. A training program for all employees exposed to lead is also available specific to client’s exposures. Silica Although no OSHA Silica Standard exists, as yet, the current Special Emphasis Program suggests ways for employers to reduce silica exposure and silicosis risk. To that end, Mr. Dimos can provide airborne silica dust exposure assessments and assist clients in developing silica programs including training, medical surveillance and the use of engineering controls and other means to substantially reduce silica exposures in the workplace. Noise Full-shift sampling representing workplace exposures to noise including personal dosimetry and area map-ping are provided, as well as assisting clients develop hearing conservation programs and assisting in the reduction of noise exposure through engineering controls or appropriate selection of personal protective equipment. Ventilation Ventilation system evaluation for indoor air, hospital, and industrial applications can be provided to measure the efficacy of general (dilution) ventilation systems or local exhaust ventilation. In areas where airborne exposure assessments indicate a health risk, recommendations on ventilation control and design are also provided. Personal Protective Equipment Current use of PPE can be evaluated and recommendations on new use will be made for all levels of protection. In addition, full respiratory protection program services are provided from exposure evaluation, to selection of appropriate respirators to fit-testing and program development. In addition, training of program administrators and employees can be provided as well as assisting in the selection of a Physician or Other Licensed Healthcare Professional (PLHCP) for medical evaluations. Audit/Review of Existing Industrial Hygiene Programs A review of current, in-place industrial hygiene programs can be done and an audit of their effectiveness provided to provide a gap analysis. These include evaluations of Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Lead Compliance or any other existing program. Training In addition, Mr. Dimos can provide training for the above services either to fulfill regulatory requirements under OSHA, or to train Safety and Health staff. Mr. Dimos is authorized to instruct the OSHA 10 and 30-Hour courses in both General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and Construction (29 CFR 1926). Member:
